Today, we’re catching up with Brandon Shreve. If you’ve followed Casa’s productions for several years, you’ll recognize the name! And just to name a few: The Secret Garden, Side Show, Jekyll & Hyde, Big Fish, Children of Eden, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, The Sound of Music and Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story.
During his time at Casa, Brandon learned how to apply a sense of professionalism to his passion: “Casa taught me how a professional environment really works and gave me the opportunity to work with and learn from some really incredible actors, mentors and designers.” The lifelong friends were also a perk!
As far as a favorite memory goes, it’s hard for him to pick just one! He says that the opening-night cast parties sure made a lasting impression.
So where is he now? Brandon is a college senior at Drake University, where he’s pursuing a BFA in musical theatre and a BA in rhetoric media and social change. No longer just a performer, Brandon has dabbled in playwriting, songwriting and directing. “Most recently I was able to direct and premiere my own full-length play entitled Seawall. I am currently working on some other original projects including an EP, virtual senior recital, [as well as] another full-length play.”
We’re so happy that theatre has allowed Brandon to find his direction and discover more about his personality as an artist. As he says, “Theatre has shown me the importance of vulnerability and empathy; it’s highlighted the necessity of storytelling.”
