Description: This year’s intensive production is open to younger students! Students will rehearse and perform the hit Broadway musical, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Performances will be held on the Casa Mañana Main Stage with lights, sound and costumes. Participation is by audition only. Registering to audition does not guarantee a part in the show.

Description:  In this creative drama class, students will learn how to use their voices, bodies and imaginations to create characters and tell stories while gaining skills in creative thinking, self-confidence and team work. Description: Kids on Broadway is an exciting and challenging year-long class which focuses on preparing students for a final performance at the end of the year on the Casa main stage with costumes, lights, and sound.  Students audition for parts and rehearse the show throughout the year to be performed on TheatreFest weekend, May 18-19, 2018. Prerequisite: Broadway Studio or Camp Casa.

About the show: The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Description: Work with a vocal coach on musical theatre repertoire to improve your vocal technique and strengthen your foundation as a musical theatre singer. Class size is kept small to maximize individual attention and instruction. This is a great class to help prepare you for auditions, voice lessons, and performances.

Description: Live On Stage (LOS) is now a yearlong class for students who want to participate in an end-of-year performance on the Casa stage as part of our Theatrefest weekend. This year, students will create a 20-minute show inspired by the songs and characters of the hit Broadway show Wicked.
Prerequisites: Broadway Studio or similar previous experience.

Description: Triple Threat is CPAC’s most advanced musical theatre class for high school students dedicated to and passionate about acting, singing and dancing. Triple Threat has three distinct companies determined by age and experience levels, which work together and separately throughout the year. A final showcase of work is presented during TheatreFest weekend, May 18-19. (Triple Threat students are required to register for a Broadway Dance class, which is included in the cost of tuition.)

Online Video Requirements

If you are unable to attend the in-person auditions, please complete an audition form and submit an online video (YouTube or Dropbox links preferred) by August 19th which includes the following:

  • 16-32 bars of a song from a musical
  • One age appropriate monologue from a published play, no more than 1 minute in length
  • A dance combination that shows your dance ability. Dance videos should be 1-2 minutes in length. Please be sure the video captures you from head to toe.
  • A recent picture and resume listing relevant experience and training (attached to email)

Class Name: Broadway Dance 1 (Beg/Int)  (important dates)
Instructor: Hannah Argüelles

Class Days/Times: Mondays, 7:10-8:10pm OR Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30pm
Ages: Grades 5+
Cost: $225
Description: Students will strengthen their technique, vocabulary, and conditioning in this intermediate musical theater/jazz style class. (Students accepted in Triple Threat or Triple Threat Jr. must register for a Broadway Dance class.)

Studio B

Class Name: Broadway Voice (Int/Adv) (important dates)

Instructor: Sarah Gay

Class Days/Times: Tuesdays, 7:35-8:35 pm

Age: 13-18

Cost: $325

Description: Work with a vocal coach on musical theatre repertoire to improve your vocal technique and strengthen your foundation as a musical theatre singer. Class size is kept small to maximize individual attention and instruction. This is a great class to help prepare you for auditions, voice lessons, and performances.

Pre-requisite: Previous musical theatre experience.

Studio A

Class name: LIVE! On Stage (Grades 6-9)

Description: Live On Stage (LOS) is now a yearlong class for students who want to participate in an end-of-year performance on the Casa stage as part of our Theatrefest weekend. This year, students will create a 20-minute show inspired by the songs and characters of the hit Broadway show Wicked.
Prerequisites: Broadway Studio or similar previous experience.

 

Studio A

Class Name: Broadway Studio Sr. (Grades 6-12) (important dates)

Class Days/Times: Thursdays, 6:05-7:05pm

Age: Grades 6-12

Description: Work with a vocal coach and choreographer to strengthen your vocal and dance technique, emotional range, and character portrayal. Students will work on solo and ensemble repertoire from popular Broadway musicals.  

Studio C

Class Name: College Monologue Audition Coaching (Workshop Series)

Instructor: Staci Schuhmann

Class Times/Dates: Thursdays, 6:45-8:15pm
Part 1: September 21-October 19, 2017 (5 weeks)
Part 2: November 2 – December 7, 2017 (5 weeks – No Class 11/23)
(Students may sign up for both parts, or choose only one.)
Age: Grades 10-12
Cost: $150 for one, $300 for both
Description: If you’re planning on auditioning for college acting programs this year or next, this special 6 week workshop will help you select and prepare the monologues that will show you at your best. Learn helpful monologue techniques that will serve you for your college auditions and beyond.

Studio B

Class Name: Musical Theatre for Special Needs (important dates)

Class Days/Times: Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30pm

Age: Grades K-6
Cost: $250
Description: This class that focuses on the “triple threat” skills of acting, singing, and dancing is open to students with special needs who are in K-6th grade. Students who have an interest in the creative arts will have the opportunity to benefit from an environment created for them in which they can learn, grow and explore their talents.

Studio B

Class Name: Musical Theatre Production for Students with Special Needs and Abilities

Class Days/Times: Thursdays, 4:30-6pm (important dates)
Instructors: Tina Farquhar
Age: Ages 13 – Adult
Cost: $765
Description: This is a yearlong, performance-based class for older students with special care needs. Students will rehearse a musical production which they will perform on the Casa stage as part of the end of year CPAC TheatreFest. Students who have an interest in the creative arts will have the opportunity to benefit from an environment created for them in which they can learn, grow and explore their talents.
