Denton Yockey, President & Executive Producer

Denton oversees all aspects of the theatre’s operations.  His background as an actor, director, producer, educator and administrator enables him to have a keen insight into the workings of not-for-profit professional theatre.  Since Denton's arrival, Casa Mañana has experienced tremendous growth.  Attendance for all productions have reached historic highs and budget size has doubled to make Casa Mañana the largest performing arts organization in Tarrant County.  Subscriptions for the Children's Playhouse have increased 98 percent and this past season played to over 120,000 people.  All box office records have been shattered since Casa began presenting and producing in the Bass Performance Hall.  Denton's vision has led to the creation of The Tomorrow Project, which explores and develops new, lost or overlooked musical theatre works; The Betty Lynn Buckley Awards which honors excellence in musical theatre among Tarrant County high schools; and a summer theatre camp called Camp Casa, now a Fort Worth tradition.  Critics raved over Denton’s previous directorial credits for Casa Mañana, Camelot, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, Fiddler On The Roof and The Music Man all at the Bass Performance Hall.  As an actor and director, Denton has worked on over 100 professional productions and, as a producer, has overseen over 300 productions.  Denton received an M.F.A. from the University of Georgia and a B.A. from Indiana University.  A past theatre panelist for the Cultural Arts Council of Houston and the Texas Commission on the Arts, Denton is a board member of the Live Theatre League of Tarrant County, a past board member of both Texas Nonprofit Theatres, Inc. and The National Alliance for Musical Theatre, a member of the League of American Theatres and Producers and a Tony Awards voter.  Previously, Denton served as Executive Director for Lone Star Performing Arts Association in Galveston, Texas for nine years.  Denton and his beautiful wife, actress Gina Biancardi, met on stage 14 years ago in a production of The Mystery Of Edwin Drood, and have been married for thirteen years.  They are the proud parents of Gwyneth Kathryn and Grayson Walter.
